If you’re looking for a place to bring friends and family craving for some good hawker grub, but simply can’t cope with the sometimes brutal Singapore heat and humidity, try Kopi Tiam at Swissotel The Stamford.
It may lose out in terms of authenticity and hawker charm without the screaming aunties and plastic chairs, but their top-notch renditions of Singapore favourites—their signature Fish Head Curry, a must-try—will not disappoint.
And from now till 30 June 2016—extended due to popular demand—they’re celebrating all things seafood with a scrumptious Seafood Galore promotion.
Highlights include the expertly fried Soon Hock ($10 per 100grams, marble goby fish)—crisp outside, soft succulent flesh inside—drizzled with a savoury superior sauce, or the equally good Steamed Black Grouper ($9 per 100grams) with fermented chilli bean sauce.
There’s also this extremely simple yet fragrant and scrummy dish of Brown Clams in Superior Stock ($18) with ginger and Chinese wine that had us slurping every spoonful.
Fan of mussels can also look forward loaded plates of Chilli mussels—Australian blue mussels tossed in chilli and onion sauce—and spicy Thai Basil Spicy Venus Clams that packs a punch.
