Review: Chihuly Lounge @ Ritz-Carlton Millenia – 8 Course Afternoon Tea

When planning a girl’s day out, it is quintessential that afternoon tea be penned into the schedule – in between bouts of shopping of course. Getting lost in the maze of shops in ION Orchard can be exhausting, and that’s where a good afternoon tea place comes in – somewhere you can relax, gossip about the latest scandal, and be pampered by good service and decadent desserts. Chihuly Lounge at Ritz Carlton, Millenia Singapore is a place perfect for that.

The lounge is set in a vast space with high ceilings, and the full-length windows allowing ample light creates an air of comfort and luxury. The live pianist there is the cherry atop the cake, and the entire Chihuly Lounge experience is an afternoon of debauchery at its best.

The 8-course afternoon tea starts off with a wide selection of tea. From flavoured blacked teas to fruit infused teas, you are sure to find one to enthrall you. The tea is followed by a servigin of either a Beef Wellington, or a Salmon Coulibiac. The salmon filling was certainly good, with generous slices of salmon fillet; however, the puff pastry came across rather lackluster with missing flakiness and a tad rubbery.

Following that was the signature 3-tiered afternoon tea assortment of sandwiches and pastries. Indulge in scones, a selection of sandwiches that include an avocado and cream cheese sandwich and a parma ham baguette, and some fanciful desserts such as the pistachio macaroons and chocolate praline tarts. I personally enjoyed the macaroon, and wish they had more than 1 serving of each.

The afternoon tea moves on to a serving of Berries with Bora-Bora Vanilla cream, a fruit sorbet, and ends with a wide choice of chocolate and cookies that would leave you on a sugar high.
