Spotlight: Starbucks – Christmas Open House 2011

Set your alarms, Whatsapp your friends and prepare to brace the crowd. Yes, it’s that time of the year again, where all the Starbucks outlets will suddenly have long, snaking queues.

Come 5pm, all Starbucks outlets will be giving out FREE — yes, you read right — tall-sized beverages to all. While the drinks may be free, please do your part & donate a token sum to The Salvation Army.

For the two Salvation Army Children’s homes, The Haven and Gracehaven, your contribution of $10 would provide a child with 3 months’ worth of stationery and craft materials, $20 can provide 3 days of meals for a young child, and $50 would enable a primary school child to ride on public transport for 2 months.

For Peacehaven Nursing Home: $10 would provide 1 resident suffering from dementia a sensory programme for 3 days, $20 would provide 1-2 residents activity materials for a month, while $50 would provide a resident with 1 day of active therapy session.

For Family Support Services, $10 would provide basic toiletry needs for an elderly, $50 would provide a family of 3 with 1 month of food ration, $100 would provide a family with a chronically ill family member assistance for their medical bills.

Your giving can make a real and tangible difference to the lives of these people.

What started out as just something fun for Jasper has developed into a passion for food over the years. Always having weird urges to take pictures of other diners’ food, he is used to being forcefully restrained by dining companions, but has yet to have security called on him. Jasper is open to all sorts of cuisines and dishes, and is always on the lookout for a good meal or deal. To him, an ideal restaurant is one that combines good food, friendly service and a warm ambience. "Food is all about the dining experience."
